pFor those of you who dont know CV (cardio vascular) fitness refers to the ability of the heart and lungs to provide the body with enough nutrients (mainly oxygen) for it to function during activity and remove waste products such as carbon dioxide and lactic acid also. The more efficient and well trained the CV system is, the greater the intensity or duration of exercise can be. Sports like sprinting and discus do not work the CV system very much at all, as muscles do not use oxygen in fast powerful events.!–more– But there are sports that work the CV system more than others. Here are 3 of the top sports for this type of fitness./ppbr / strongSkiing/strong. It has been proven that cross-country skiing demands more of the cardio vascular system than any other sport. This is because competitive events usually take place over very long distances and skiers encounter lots of different inclines to conquer. Also, cross country skiing uses nearly every single muscle in the body which means energy demands on the heart and lungs is very high. So if youre looking to build your CV system, switch your a href=http://www.extremesportstrader.co.uk/buy/snow/snowboarding/ target=_blanksnowboards/a for skis next time youre on the slopes./ppbr / strongCycling/strong. Riding a bike, especially in competitive road racing, can cause the heart and lungs to work overtime as they attempt to feed the large leg muscles. The 7 time Tour De France winner Lance Armstrong is testament to that, having one of the highest VO2 max scores of any athlete. This refers to the amount of 02 that the body can take in and the muscles can use in 1 minute. Based on that evidence, if youre thinking about getting rid of your old cycling machine or a href=http://www.extremesportstrader.co.uk/buy/dirt/mountain_biking/ target=_blankmountain bikes/a, you might want to think again./ppbr / strongKayaking/strong. This is a sport that demands an incredible amount from the heart and lungs, despite there being comparatively little movement of the lower body taking place. This is because during middle to long distance races, the upper body and torso work so hard that incredible amounts of oxygen are required to keep going and muscle waste products are also produced in bucket loads. For second hand kayaks and a href=http://www.extremesportstrader.co.uk/buy/water/surfing/ target=_blanksurfboards/a check out EST./p

Which Type of Bike is Best for the Morning Commute?
Wednesday, July 29th, 2009pWeve seen them all, the wide array of different cyclists on their morning commute. All wearing different a href=http://www.in-gearonline.co.uk/cycle-clothing.htm target=_blankcycle clothing/a, from suits to lycra. All riding different types of bikes ranging from streamlined a href=http://www.in-gearonline.co.uk target=_blankroad bikes/a to slow and steady granny bikes.!–more–/ppObviously the choice that people make is based upon what they are using the bike for. A range of things affect what bike they choose, how far they need to go, what they are bringing with them and finally, whether they have showers at work./ppMost people think they have made the best choice for commuting. But have they made the right choice? Would is be better to take a granny bike to work rather than your high priced fixed gear bike? You would instantly think now, however, I think I can prove you wrong./ppIf you consider how long it takes for 4 different cyclists to get from home to work, well then see who is the fastest. If we have 2 lycra kitted out cyclists and put one on a fixed gear bike and the other on a road bike. The choose your other cyclists, one in a suit on a granny bike, the other in casual clothes on a mountain bike./ppOf course the majority of people will assume that the fixed gear and the road bike will take easy victory over the other 2. This is true, however, they havent won the race yet. When these 2 get to their work, they are basically a waterfall of sweat. So for them, not only do you have the time to get to work, but you also have to factor in the time to have a shower./ppAs for the other 2, the mountain biker came in 3rd place, but partcially sticky, a shower would be recommended. Finally, the granny bike, although it comes in last, the rider is sweat free and has enjoyed their ride. No need to catch your breath or have a shower, you can simply walk into work./ppSo once you add up the commute time, and then plus the amount of time to ready yourself for work. The granny bike wins by a good margin. It goes to show, slow and steady really does win the race./ppNext time youre about to go to work, think about how youre getting there./p
