pWeve seen them all, the wide array of different cyclists on their morning commute. All wearing different a href=http://www.in-gearonline.co.uk/cycle-clothing.htm target=_blankcycle clothing/a, from suits to lycra. All riding different types of bikes ranging from streamlined a href=http://www.in-gearonline.co.uk target=_blankroad bikes/a to slow and steady granny bikes.!–more–/ppObviously the choice that people make is based upon what they are using the bike for. A range of things affect what bike they choose, how far they need to go, what they are bringing with them and finally, whether they have showers at work./ppMost people think they have made the best choice for commuting. But have they made the right choice? Would is be better to take a granny bike to work rather than your high priced fixed gear bike? You would instantly think now, however, I think I can prove you wrong./ppIf you consider how long it takes for 4 different cyclists to get from home to work, well then see who is the fastest. If we have 2 lycra kitted out cyclists and put one on a fixed gear bike and the other on a road bike. The choose your other cyclists, one in a suit on a granny bike, the other in casual clothes on a mountain bike./ppOf course the majority of people will assume that the fixed gear and the road bike will take easy victory over the other 2. This is true, however, they havent won the race yet. When these 2 get to their work, they are basically a waterfall of sweat. So for them, not only do you have the time to get to work, but you also have to factor in the time to have a shower./ppAs for the other 2, the mountain biker came in 3rd place, but partcially sticky, a shower would be recommended. Finally, the granny bike, although it comes in last, the rider is sweat free and has enjoyed their ride. No need to catch your breath or have a shower, you can simply walk into work./ppSo once you add up the commute time, and then plus the amount of time to ready yourself for work. The granny bike wins by a good margin. It goes to show, slow and steady really does win the race./ppNext time youre about to go to work, think about how youre getting there./p
